Clark Johnson

Dr. Clark V. Johnson was born May 29, 1938 in Preston Idaho. He served his mission in Uruguay. Brother Johnson received his BA degree from Utah State and his MA and PhD from Brigham Young University in History. He married Cheryl Geddes, also from Preston Idaho, in the Logan Utah Temple on June 30, 1961. They had five children: Jannette, Paul, Duane, Chamane and James. All but Duane accompanied them while they served as traveling faculty for the 1985 Winter Semester at the Jerusalem Center.
Clark was a professor of Church History and Doctrine at BYU. He and Cheryl served as missionaries in the Mexico City East, Madrid Spain and Guayaquil Ecuador missions.
Clark passed away on July 25, 2009. At the time of his death he had 32 grandchildren.

His longtime interest in the Missouri period of Church history led to many related articles published in Church magazines and books. He is co-editor of Regional Studies in Latter-day Saint Church History—Arizona and author of “A Profile of Mormon Missouri, 1833–1839,” in Regional Studies in LDS Church History—Missouri.

He passed away on July 25, 2009.

Clark V. Johnson 1938 ~ 2009 PROVO, UTAH – Clark Voris Johnson, 71, passed away July 25, 2009 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah from complications after surgery.He was born May 29, 1938, in Preston, Idaho, the son of Voris E. and Reba Bair. He married Cheryl Geddes in the Logan LDS Temple on June 30, 1961. They were blessed with five children. He served in many callings in the LDS church, including Scoutmaster, Priest Quorum Advisor, Bishop and High Councilman. He was a professor of Church History and Doctrine at Brigham Young University. Clark and Cheryl served as missionaries in the Mexico City East, Madrid Spain, and Guayaquil Ecuador missions. Clark is survived by his wife, Cheryl; five children, Jannette (Mark) Salmon of Troy, Alabama; Paul (Marianne) Johnson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Duane (Lori) Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada; Chamane (Reid) Monson of Sandy, Utah; and James (Gale) Johnson of Temecula, California; and 32 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and one grandson.
