2022 Summer

We were the first group back after the COVID-19 pandemic, and were warmly welcomed by center administration, staff, and locals, who were excited that the “mormon university students” were back. Dr. Eric Huntsman led us in his first semester as academic director, accompanied by his wife, Elaine, and son, Sam. Eran Hayet, Tawfic Alawi, and Tarek Safadi were center administrators. The professors and instructors included Ed Stratford (and his family), Eric Marlowe (and his family), Mark Ellison (and his wife), Ophir Yarden, Bashir Bashir, Shlomeet, and Ayman. The service couples for the summer were the Earnshaws, Barkers, and Welches. Brother Welch, who played the organ, also led tours of the Carillon in the YMCA building. Thanks to the hard work of the staff and security at the center, we were the first group of students in many years to not only visit the Haram al-Sharif, but be given a personal tour inside the Dome of the Rock and Al Aqsa Mosque. Our group also visited Greece, Jordan, and Galilee, along with dozens of sites across Israel and Palestine in field trips.
