2025 Spring/Summer

2025 Spring/Summer

This program was a particularly unusual one, as far as Jerusalem Semesters go. The students arrived at the Jerusalem Center in May, as planned. Students enjoyed their initial field trips and worked on their classwork until they left for their scheduled field trip to Greece on June 12, 2025. The next day, June 13th, the 12-Day War broke out when Israel bombed key military locations in Iran. The program continued as planned in Greece but ended up extending and then taking a ferry to Turkey for another out-of-country experience that lasted until everyone was able to return to Jerusalem to complete the semester there.

The Associate Director, Academics was Eric Huntsman (with wife Elaine and son Sam). Jeff Chadwick (with wife Kim) was the professor for Ancient Near Eastern studies. Kerry Hull (wife Asa) and Josh Sears (with wife Alice and 5 children – Josiah, Micah, Naomi, Hannah, and Asher) taught the Old and New Testament Courses. Service couples were Kim & Jennifer Bertin (Housing and Medical), Randy and Carrie Smith (Humanitarian), and Debbie and Ken Bush (Music and Hosting). Julie and Ted  Lloyd were also there for part of the time as the humanitarian service couple.

There were nine months where the faculty and a service couple were at the Center before any students came. They went to the Center in August of 2024 in preparation for when students might return after the pause of the events of October 7th, 2023 and the war that followed. These families enjoyed exploring and learning in the Holy Land as they formed into their own Jerusalem family. This video shows some of their adventures.
