Partway through the Fall 1995 semester, we learned that we would be able to go to Jordan. More than 15 students received mission calls during our time in the Holy Land. That was welcomed news. Sadly, we also had bad news that semester when our flights were cancelled out of JFK because of snow and an airplane accident (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tower_Air_Flight_41) and we spent two days waiting in airports trying to get home.
By far, the biggest political event during our semester was Rabin’s assissation on November 5th, just before we went to Sinai. A number of students went to the Knesset where he was lying in state, along with a million other people. It was intense (https://www.deseret.com/1995/11/6/19203039/world-leaders-pay-tribute-to-rabin/). We also saw the implementation of the Oslo Accords with more territory being handed over to partial Palestinian control. In spite of all that, we never were restricted to the Center for security reasons during the Fall 1995 semester.
